Request for Proposal

If you would like a turnkey YardPod outside of this area, please identify a qualified and licensed local general contractor and contact YardPods with the contractor’s contact information.  We will discuss the project with your contractor and will provide him/her with a proposal to supply a YardPod SP package for installation and finishing off by the contractor. Your contractor will provide a proposal to you to deliver the completed YardPod.  In this case YardPods is a supplier to your general contractor.

An alternative is for the owner to undertake some or all of the work himself/herself, we call this the DIY (Do It Yourself) version.  We will supply a YardPod SP package directly to the owner, with instructions for completing the project.  The owner is responsible for:

• Checking with the local Building and Planning departments to ensure that the YardPod can be installed in the location required.
• Designing and building the foundations.
• Assembling the YardPod.
• Installing the roofing.
• Waterproofing the exterior walls.
• Purchasing and installing windows and doors.
• Adding exterior cladding.
• Adding any required interior floor, wall and ceiling finishes.
• If electrical services are required, the owner should contract with a licensed electrical contractor to undertake the work and to obtain permits. (note that we supply the SIPs panels with chases through which electrical wiring can be routed.)

The DIY version is suitable for people who have the tools and experience to take on such a project.  People without construction experience should not attempt to build without help. A team of 2+ people will be required to install a YardPod, but lifting the roof into place will require additional help.
